On way to Denver on Rt 285 from Rt 17

Good image from this morning at coffee.

These need little explanation.

Just around a last bend in the road, Denver suberbs!

Denver Art Museum

I'm unexpectedly driving back across country.

First night in Alamosa, CO.

Got rained on.

Not painting as I have to travel fast.

This will be a Museum trip.

I will post museums to Museum Blog.

Traveling across North as Central US is blazing hot.

Each day a Drama

By the end of each day a thunderstorm like this one.

We have these new Hummingbirds, very aggressive, Rufus-backed--will fight any other to keep away from feeder.

Clouds back in New Mexico.

Each year a weather pattern called Monsoon starts in July. Moisture from the Gulf of California is drawn up and it rains in thunderstorms here and there each day it makes a drama that is unending in it's pleasure. The clouds dance among the mountains this one light that one dark, exchanging places. Another suddenly highlighted.

Ravens...

and a little Warbler that didn't make it.

Where the Deer and the Antelope play, some Buffalo too.

Entering New Mexico, everything changes. First one notices the crystalline cotton candy clouds--

This trip I was arriving in the early morning so I saw lots of Wild life along the road.

Rio Arriba Rodeo, New Mexico

This rodeo just miles from my home in New Mexico was quite a surprise. I can't think of anywhere one sees such a display of raw power. There is danger at every moment. I was amazed that no one was hurt. Flying off those bulls, seem like they weigh a ton.

They all paused to thank God for protecting this way of life. I have to say there was something to it. This cowboy life is just amazing compared to TV life most Americans live.

Here people seem to gravitate towards church or the bars. Here at the rodeo everyone mingled, and the thrill as I said was not gratuitous there was real strength, skill and danger.

The horses as they speed full throttle around the track add a majesty to the human spirit I guess is largely gone. Like I said I was amazed , didnt know I would be so in to it.
